Server
NOTE: Release 4 of the game will allow single player games
Players are continuously asking others on how to setup their own game server,
how to practice their own command skills without having to take over
the only game, seeking first an experience at command, and then simply
playing around with new cores, ships, pictures, etc.
First, all those players must get their hands on the
Allegiance
Server Setup package, which includes the following files:
- ASW.exe: The Allegiance Switcher is used to switch your game
and server to the new, community's lobby.
- AGM.exe: The Allegiance Game Manager allows you to set all
of the game and server properties from the number of miners per team
to the core played on the server.
- instructions.txt: This file contains simple instructions concerning
each software included in the ZIP file.
- SrvSetup.exe: This is the Microsoft Server Installer.
Now that you've unzipped all those files, start by installing
the Allegiance Server through SrvSetup.exe. The server will
install itself in your Allegiance folder. You must now update it.
To update your server, open ASW.exe and switch your server to MyAllegiance,
and then Quit the program. Your server should now be able to connect
itself to the community's lobby, not Microsoft's (which no longer
exists).
Now, you can update your server by creating a public game. The server will
connect itself to the community lobby and automatically update itself.
Now that your game and server use the same version of Allegiance, you
can create a game and connect to it through a LAN connection. Open
Allegiance (not ASGS) as many times as you want using the -multi command.
Each Allegiance game can connect to your server with a different name,
and you can, for example, play a 1 on 1 to train your command skills.
The -windowed command is optional, allowing Allegiance to play in
windowed mode (same as Alt-Enter), useful to switch between Allegiance
games. Note that your screen must be set to 16 bit color for Allegiance
to run in windowed mode.
Now that your setup is complete, you can use AGM.exe to play with the
properties of Allegiance. Set the resources to incredibly high amounts
and start the game with over 100k credits, use your own maps (use
AME,
Allegiance Map Editor, to create maps), use different cores (use
ICE,
IGC Core Editor, to explore/edit cores), etc.
