Refinery Properties
- Refineries serve as an unload platform for miners. They cannot be used by any
ship.
- Some refineries can be used as a rescue station for eject pods.
- Because of their acceptable scan range, they serve as a big probe, but won't
detect any ship that doesn't want to be seen.
Using the Refinery
- Refineries serving for miners, place them in secure sectors where enemy ships
are not likely to fly. Be sure that if your miners are spotted, the
enemy will call an assault and try to destroy them, crippling your
economy if they succeed.
- Refineries should be placed in the middle of a sector for it to remain accessible,
not in a corner, like you would place a defensive outpost. Their position
also allows them to assist in detecting enemy threats.
- Miners can usually not dock in technology stations (except for IC). It is
therefore useful to have a refinery platform nearby to increase mining
speed, provided the sector is secure enough, or can be well defended.
Keep in mind that it's important for your team to have sufficient
resources, mining is important, and so is keeping miners alive.
