Global Properties - Miners
- Miners are computer-controlled ships that fly to He3 asteroids, collect He3 using an electrophysical reaction, and bring it back to stations, constituting
the main resource for most teams. Different factions have different mining yields, miner speed, and extraction speed.
- Miners possess a strong hull, essential to their survival, since they are a prime target. They can fly at reasonable speeds, but enhanced miners
are much safer and efficient, and advanced miners furthermore.
- Miners can be upgraded to enhanced miners in the garrison, and to advanced miners in the adv. Expansion complex. (GigaCorp possesses enhanced miners upon the beginning of the game.)
- Recent technological breakthroughs allow teams to upgrade their miners further to type SB miners in both the Starbase and Advanced Expansion Complex, making extremely strong miners.
Exceptional Properties
Iron Coalition miners
- The Iron Coalition has always been considered to have a poor economy. As an accelerator system, and also serving as a safety mechanism, Iron Coalition engineers incorporated ripcord technology
in their miners. The system is not as effective as that of small ships, but serves its purpose, allowing a miner to ripcord in approximately 30 seconds. This increases IC's mining abilities greatly,
and increases their safety, but each unit is more expensive.
Deploying Miners
- Miners must always remain protected, mostly when the enemy possesses tactical technology, which partly specializes in the destruction of miners.
- Miners cannot usually dock at technology stations, which is why having an outpost, a garrison or a refinery platform nearby increases mining speed.
- If a miner gets attacked, launching ships to neutralize the threat does not suffice. One or two pilots should equip nanite repair
systems. These are very effective in miner defense, mostly when miners are trying to dock. You want to buy time, and a Nan is just what's needed.
- The commander should always watch his miners closely. Not only must he ensure that miners do not sit in base, that they are always getting He3 in locations, but also that they are well
defended, mostly if they have to mine in unsecured territory, and most importantly he must order them to return to secure locations when threats arise. Miners are a high-priority target, and as
soon as an enemy ship spots one, he clearly indicates it to his team (or at least he should).
Global Attributes for miners
GA's (Global attributes) are found in each tech path. The three that apply the most to miners are listed below.
- Miner Yield: The amount of cash a team receives for each unit of He3 mined by the miner.
- Miner Speed: How fast a miner can extract He3 from the rock.
- Miner Capacity: How much He3 the miner can carry.
