Organized by Phrase, one of the leaders of TCX19, the Super Squad Match was intended to pitch all squads against each other in an all out battle with huge
numbers of pilots of both sides. Although there was a lot of hype about the event, things may not have gone quite as well as expected.
It had been decided in advance that there would be two teams, each made of three squads, thus allowing all six squads to participate. The Collective
- X-19, Palidor's Knights and System ¤ would be allied against the Black Shadow Squadron, the German Borg and Xeno Technologies. The
game was played by having each squad group within a single team rather than having a six-team game with the proper squads allied. It seems
as though this was not how the event was intended to be played according to Phrase, but it was played as such nonetheless.
Mercenaries (unaffiliated pilots) would be allowed to fill the gaps in the teams. Both teams had a total amount of approximately 35 players. TCX19 had
by far the strongest show for Team 1, almost filling it entirely. Phrase, their squad leader, commanded the team. On the other side, both GB and
BS had approximately equal numbers, with a few XT members, which is still a small squad. The team was led by Souvlaki. Team 1 went Rixian
Unity and used the supremacy pathway, while Team 2 went Bios sup.
The game seemed promising, but quickly the outcome became clear. Even before the game started, Orion had made his prediction:
Souvlaki > Bios > Sup > Win, which turned out to be correct. Indeed, as the game started, Phrase ordered his team
to rush left, which was sadly the only direction available on HiHigher. The team failed to rush much of anything, and thus
failed to produce what Rix does best. All scout groups were stopped at camped alephs by Bios fighters waiting for them,
thus providing the Bios with perfect protection for their miners. Team 1 managed to build a Supremacy Center in the center sector
of the map, but never managed to rush with Enh. Fighters ripcording to scouts simply because scouts were getting slaughtered on
the battle field. Thus, the Rixians were quickly losing miners, and not even approaching their enemy's. Bombing was equally
unsuccessful for the Rixians, while the Bios struck at multiple targets and rarely failed, eventually obtaining superior technology
and crushing their opponent.
Unfortunately, some members of PK refused to play the game at all, but decided to watch, thus staying in base and taking up the place of one pilot each. Also,
many System ¤ members could either not come or decided to leave to avoid representing their squad in this massacre, considering it to
be a poorly planned extermination. The game ended in a resign by Team 1 which crashed the server, keeping most from being able to see the
game's statistics.
It is strongly hoped that such events are repeated and better organized and coordinated in order to increase squad activity and provide new
players with a taste of squad play.
