Global Properties - Carriers
- Carriers are used to provide reload and repairs to small and medium class ships
(those that can dock at regular stations).
- Ships cannot launch directly from it, they can only pass through it. If a
pod gets inside a Carrier, the pilot is sent home, not relaunched in
a ship.
- Carriers are computer-controlled, responding to the commander's orders. The super-carrier,
however, is piloted, and also mounts a turret gunner.
Deploying Carriers
- Carriers are rarely used, mostly deployed in small games, or in games with many
teams. They serve as a mobile station, allowing to quickly repair ships
in combat. They are easy kills if the enemy is in high numbers, and
must therefore be removed from combat if teammates are no longer capable
of standing up to the enemy. Escorting them with gunships or devastators
is safer.
- When a ship docks with a carrier, the ship is repaired and
is instantly re-launched, getting a speed boost in the process.
As such, HTTs and Bombers, ships who's speed is a great asset,
can trail behind a carrier, and when the time comes, dock at
it, coming out immediately in front, a few meters ahead of their
initial position, and covered by the huge carrier.
